"'Knottnkino"

Natural open-air cinema

The so-called “Knottnkino” is on a panoramic terrace of the Rotsteinkogel Mount, high above the valley of Merano. In local dialect, the word “Knottn” means rock. The open air cinema has 30 chestnut chairs. From this exceptional natural monument one can enjoy a spectacular view of the wonderful ever changing surrounding scenery. One of the most suggestive sunset moments is when the sun paints the whole of the Adige Valley and Merano red. The side valleys appear almost as the tips of a star, and on the background the Dolomites dominate the landscape. On the foreground is the Gruppo di Tessa Natural Park, while the horizon is broken by the tops of the Ötztal Alps.

This “cinema” can be reached after a walk from Verano.
